A Call for Prayer for this Nation-Day Twelve

I have decided that today is going to be a day of praise to God. For eleven days and eleven nights, I have been asking and asking of God.

Today, I am giving...to Him, all of the praise and glory that can emanate from my puny efforts. Why is the God we serve, so magnificent and worthy of praise? Poetess Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote: "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways......and if God choose, I shall love thee better after death."

If I may be so bold, I would like to slightly alter those words to state that I will love and worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, while I have humanly breath, and if God so chooses, I will love and worship Him even more, when this earthly existence ends.

How could I not love and worship Him? He created this world with beautiful foliage, awesome animals, serene vistas, a moon that lights our way at night, a sun that warms us during the day, and is a golden version of the moon, all for us. He has allowed us free will to believe or not to believe. He has sent, as I describe many of my friends, angels in earthly apparel, to rush to our rescue, with or without a white horse.

Yes He is worthy of praise. And no, I am not "sucking up" to God so that He can spare this nation from doom. I have already made up my mind that His will be done. If He decides that we need further refining and allows us to be dragged through the fire, through the fire I go, and hopefully emerge as did Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego. I know that skeptics question the physical reality of men being thrown into fire and coming out unscathed, but I do not claim to be a skeptic when it comes to God's power. Now when it comes to politicians, that is a story for another day.

It is time for me to turn over the "stage," to men more learned and much wiser than I. I give you the verses of Scripture for the day, and may God look favorably on this nation.

Psalm 63:1-4, 7-8

 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

Psalm 95:2

2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalm 100:4

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Job 26:7-14

7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

11The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

Revelation 7:12

12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
