How I Spent My July 4th Holiday

July 4th is here! There are missiles "bursting in air," fired off by North Korea, not quite reaching the West Coast of America. That is a good thing, or that could have put a damper on the TEA Party that I attended.

I had heard about fellow "domestic terrorists" planning a gathering at a park and on an adjacent sidewalk, so I decided to go and mingle, meet and greet. I met,  mingled and greeted. The folks there all seemed normal. No one took any particular interest in separating my head from my body. They talked about their love of God, country, family, and pets.

I kept waiting for that outbreak of real "terrorist" behavior. I waited and waited. Finally there was some yelling and I thought: Here it comes now. The inner terrorists are going to come out! They yelled "USA, USA!" I joined in enthusiastically!

I was still waiting for "terrorism" to break out, because our own Dept of Homeland Security, after presumably painstaking research, had identified individuals with "single issues, just back from Iran or Afghanistan," etc., etc., as potential or real "domestic terrorists/right wing fanatics." These folks sure fit that bill. They were modeling their behavior after some folks in Revolutionary Times, really the first "domestic terrorists," who were protesting taxation without representation. These DHS identified ones even had actual tea bags pinned on hats and clothing.

These modern day "revolutionaries" were foregoing the customary barbecue to roast in 94 degree heat to protest, based on the various signs, uncontrolled spending by the Ruling Class. They seemed particularly perturbed by the thought that their representatives in D.C., could actually vote for a bill without reading it. I did not have the heart to tell them about the speed reader who had been hired to read one of those bills, in a lame attempt at humor. I did not get the joke.  I took the attempt as a demonstration that this speed reading gig fell into the touted category of "jobs saved or created."

Alas, I never got to witness any terrorist behavior. These folks are going to have to learn to "live up" to their reputations. I am sure that there are schools out there that teach this sort of thing. Maybe they can get in touch with terrorists with the bona fides, something like those who blew up part of the Pentagon, The World Trade Center and a couple US embassies in Africa. The focus of the Ruling Class, seems to be off of those proven terrorists, and now put onto anyone who dares profess a love of country, anyone who has an issue with babies murdered in the womb, or who served his or her country in Iraq or Afghanistan. Now, the US is now involved in an "overseas contingency operation," singing kumbaya with "man-made disasters?"

Instead of blowing up anything, these tea partiers were actually singing patriotic songs, waving signs, praising their country. There was about one hundred or so folks, in my totally unscientific calculation, including at least two patriotic dogs, decked out in their stars and stripes. These two dogs really got into these "terrorist" activities! One barked as his fellow patriots, the humans, yelled out their fealty to their country!

In addition to the sea of red, white and blue, there was some green, in solidarity with the "Green Revolution" in Iran. I was kind of concerned, because with the efficiency of the Basij in silencing those inside of Iran, there could have been a few of them present in a park in Woodland Hills, California. Oops, maybe I should not have divulged a location!

At one point I was beginning to feel like a really really cheap imitation of a "celebrity!" As we stood on the sidewalk waving our signs and Flags, motorists, presumably "closet domestic terrorists," were honking their horns and waving Flags back at us. I could get to like this "domestic terrorists" gathering and will return again and again! Mention the word "party," and mention the goal of "preserving the greatest country that God allowed to be founded," and I am there! Give me a sign and a date!

                                Happy Birthday, America!
